Abstract: Presents and describes apparatus designed to study grain-boundary behaviour of ice bi-crystals. Design and dimensions of apparatus were determined by taking into account results of earlier tests, performed on same types of sample. Improvement of device allows displacement with 2° of freedom in grain-boundary plane, and direct observations of micro-structural changes during test.
