Technological limitations to satellite glaciology / W. Gareth Rees, Vernon A. Squire.
Title: | Technological limitations to satellite glaciology / W. Gareth Rees, Vernon A. Squire. |
Author(s): | Rees, W. Gareth. Squire, Vernon A. |
Date: | 1989. |
In: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. (1989.), Vol. 10(1) (1989) |
Abstract: | Review article, discussing geophysical parameters which are required for land-ice and sea-ice glaciology and extent to which these parameters are obtainable from satellite data. For both land and sea ice, spectrum of types of parameter can be identified, ranging from those which can be determined using existing satellite technology to those which it is not yet known how to extract. Suggests that there are promising techniques, even in latter case, but emphasizes that significant development and surface truth work must be performed if these are to be exploited. |
