Abstract: Applying degree-day method, altitudinal shift of equilibrium line is calculated for Greenland ice sheet by assuming changes in temperature and in cumulative accumulation. For disturbance of δTª=1K, altitudinal shift of equilibrium line is obtained between 96 m<Δh<168 m, depending on gradient of cumulative accumulation. For disturbance δc=+100 kg m⁻², altitudinal shift of equilibrium line amounts to -78 m<Δh<-48 m. Regions with negative gradient of cumulative accumulation react essentially more sensitively than regions with positive gradient.
