Radar profiling of Newton Airfield in Jackman, Maine / Carl R. Martinson.
Title: | Radar profiling of Newton Airfield in Jackman, Maine / Carl R. Martinson. |
Author(s): | Martinson, Carl R. |
Date: | 1989. |
Publisher: | Hanover, NH: US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory |
In: | CRREL Special Report. (1989.), Vol. 89-4 (1989) |
Abstract: | During April 1987, ground-penetrating radar was used to observe subsurface conditions of airfield which was constructed in 1968, with insulation used as part of subgrade. Nearby similar road without subgrade was also profiled for comparison. Survey was to document conditions of non-uniform frost heaving and, if possible, frost depth. Radar data, collected with 900-MHz antenna showed that insulation beneath runway varied in depth from 13 to 60 cm. Frost depth, however, could not be determined at this frequency. |
Notes: | CRREL Special Report. Vol. 89-4 :iii, 9 p. (1989). |
