Record #97034:

A simple steady-state coupled ice-ocean model, with application to the Greenland-Norwegian sea / Andrew J. Willmott, Lawrence A. Mysak.

Title: A simple steady-state coupled ice-ocean model, with application to the Greenland-Norwegian sea / Andrew J. Willmott, Lawrence A. Mysak.
Author(s): Willmott, Andrew J.
Mysak, Lawrence A.
Date: 1989.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (1989.), Vol. 19(4) (1989)
Abstract: Thermodynamic reduced-gravity ocean model forced by steady-state surface wind stress and Haney-type heat flux was used to determine climatological ice-edge position, ice thickness, ocean circulation, and upper-ocean temperature in high-latitude meridional channel. Model is applied to Greenland and Norwegian seas, between 60 and 80°N, and between east coast of Greenland and 15°E. Exterior to narrow western boundary layer, predicted ice-edge position compares favourably with climatological 90% ice-concentration isoline obtained from analysis of 32 years of Arctic sea-ice data.
