Record #96898:

Use of Silene acaulis for dating the relationship of cushion diameter to age / James B. Benedict.

Title: Use of Silene acaulis for dating the relationship of cushion diameter to age / James B. Benedict.
Author(s): Benedict, James B.
Date: 1989.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1989.), Vol. 21(1) (1989)
Abstract: Measurements made on 27 plants on moraines of Arapaho Glacier, Front Range, CO, USA. Growth begins slowly, accelerates to 2 to 3 cm a⁻¹, and then decreases slowly. Lifespan of 100 a or less makes this moss unsuitable for dating Little Ice Age moraines, but it can provide minimum age estimates for landforms and erosional features younger than 75 to 100 a.
Notes:

Arctic and Alpine Research. Vol. 21(1) :91-96 (1989).

Keywords: 550.93 -- Geochronology.
551.321 -- Glaciological methods and instruments.
E3 -- Glaciology: instruments and methods.
