Record #96887:
Measurement frequency requirements for permafrost ground temperature monitoring: analysis of Norman Wells pipeline data, Northwest Territories and Alberta / Margaret M. Burgess, Daniel W. Riseborough.
Title: | Measurement frequency requirements for permafrost ground temperature monitoring: analysis of Norman Wells pipeline data, Northwest Territories and Alberta / Margaret M. Burgess, Daniel W. Riseborough. |
Author(s): | Burgess, Margaret M. Riseborough, Daniel W. |
Date: | 1989. |
Publisher: | Ottawa: Geological Survey of Canada |
In: | Geological Survey of Canada. Paper. (1989.), Vol. 89-1D (1989) |
Abstract: | Presents results of analysis undertaken in 1988 to examine feasibility of reducing frequency of field temperature measurements. Analysis compares high-frequency (three readings per day) data at depths of 1 to 5 m with low-frequency measurements (monthly or more). Suggests that monthly data provide reliable temperature estimates; if necessary, reduction to six-week interval would be acceptable. |
Notes: | Geological Survey of Canada. Paper. Vol. 89-1D :69-75 (1989). |
Keywords: | 551.341 -- Permafrost and frozen ground, equipment for investigating. E3 -- Glaciology: instruments and methods. |
