Record #96887:

Measurement frequency requirements for permafrost ground temperature monitoring: analysis of Norman Wells pipeline data, Northwest Territories and Alberta / Margaret M. Burgess, Daniel W. Riseborough.

Title: Measurement frequency requirements for permafrost ground temperature monitoring: analysis of Norman Wells pipeline data, Northwest Territories and Alberta / Margaret M. Burgess, Daniel W. Riseborough.
Author(s): Burgess, Margaret M.
Riseborough, Daniel W.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: Ottawa: Geological Survey of Canada
In: Geological Survey of Canada. Paper. (1989.), Vol. 89-1D (1989)
Abstract: Presents results of analysis undertaken in 1988 to examine feasibility of reducing frequency of field temperature measurements. Analysis compares high-frequency (three readings per day) data at depths of 1 to 5 m with low-frequency measurements (monthly or more). Suggests that monthly data provide reliable temperature estimates; if necessary, reduction to six-week interval would be acceptable.
Notes:

Keywords: 551.341 -- Permafrost and frozen ground, equipment for investigating.
E3 -- Glaciology: instruments and methods.
