Record #96871:

Dating by physical and chemical seasonal variations and reference horizons / Claus U. Hammer.

Title: Dating by physical and chemical seasonal variations and reference horizons / Claus U. Hammer.
Author(s): Hammer, Claus U.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: Chichester: John Wiley & Sons
In: Environmental record in glaciers and ice sheets : report of the Dahlem Workshop on The Environmental Record in Glaciers and Ice Sheets, Berlin 1988, March 13-18. (1989.),
Abstract: Using stratigraphical methods, ice-core dating is now highly accurate, especially those methods based on isotopic composition of ice and seasonal variation of atmospheric trace substances. Various methods are described. Dating of pre-Holocene ice is still problematic. Use of reference horizons is discussed. Major problem of dating is related to rapid climatic changes observed in Greenland ice cores during past glacial period.
