Coupled circulation and ice floe movement model for partially ice-covered continental shelves / Michael S. Bruno, Ole S. Madsen.
Title: | Coupled circulation and ice floe movement model for partially ice-covered continental shelves / Michael S. Bruno, Ole S. Madsen. |
Author(s): | Bruno, Michael S. Madsen, Ole S. |
Date: | 1989. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1989.), Vol. 94(C2) (1989) |
Abstract: | Model developed for use in short-term prediction of ice and water movement on shallow Arctic continental shelf. Interest in partially ice-covered conditions allows neglect of ice-ice interactions. Thermodynamic effects are also assumed negligible over short time scale. Application to shallow-water regime permits use of vertically integrated water momentum equations but necessitates inclusion of finite depth effects. Model comparisons with actual measurements of ice-floe movement in Beaufort Sea are encouraging. |
