Coupled circulation and ice floe movement model for partially ice-covered continental shelves / Michael S. Bruno, Ole S. Madsen.

Title: Coupled circulation and ice floe movement model for partially ice-covered continental shelves / Michael S. Bruno, Ole S. Madsen.
Author(s): Bruno, Michael S.
Madsen, Ole S.
Date: 1989.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1989.), Vol. 94(C2) (1989)
Abstract: Model developed for use in short-term prediction of ice and water movement on shallow Arctic continental shelf. Interest in partially ice-covered conditions allows neglect of ice-ice interactions. Thermodynamic effects are also assumed negligible over short time scale. Application to shallow-water regime permits use of vertically integrated water momentum equations but necessitates inclusion of finite depth effects. Model comparisons with actual measurements of ice-floe movement in Beaufort Sea are encouraging.
