Abstract: Development of earth science programmes in Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) since the IGY in 1957/1958 divided chronologically into six periods on the basis of objectives, research items, operational methods, and situation in research projects in each JARE. Describes each period and future plans to undertake VLBI observation, absolute gravity measurement and broad band seismic observations.
