Abstract: In 0-200 m layer of Pacific Ocean. Calculations for Antarctic waters showed that tintinnids comprising 63-75% of total biomass of ciliates consumed 19-27% of nanoplankton biomass, or 0.1-0.3% of total phytoplankton biomass. In sub-Antarctic waters Strombidium was main consumer of phytoplankton, i.e. as much as 14% of nanophytoplankton biomass or about 10% of total phytoplankton biomass in 0-200 m layer.
