Abstract: Based on combined model for seasonal evolution of carbon and thermodynamic cycles in ocean - atmosphere - land - sea-ice system of Northern Hemisphere. About 50% of reduction shown to be due to increased land-surface albedo associated with formation of ice cover. Balance explained by increased concentration of inorganic carbon, total alkalinity and primary production of phytoplankton in ocean due to erosion of organic matter from shelf.
