Record #96667:

Phytoplankton, nutrients, and primary production in fertilized and natural lakes at Saqvaqjuac, N.W.T. / Harold E. Welch, John A. Legault, Hedy J. Kling.

Title: Phytoplankton, nutrients, and primary production in fertilized and natural lakes at Saqvaqjuac, N.W.T. / Harold E. Welch, John A. Legault, Hedy J. Kling.
Author(s): Welch, Harold E.
Legault, John A.
Kling, Hedy J.
Date: 1989.
In: Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. (1989.), Vol. 46(1) (1989)
Abstract: Whole-lake phosphorus and nitrogen addition experiments showed that the lakes were P-limited but required both P and N for increased production. Comparison study indicates that with increasing latitude, in small lakes, (a) phytoplankton productin decreases, (b) phytoplankton production per unit light decreases less sharply, and (c) the proportion of primary production occurring beneath ice cover increases.
