Record #96658:

Fracturing of an ice sheet by ship-induced, ice-coupled waves / C. Yuen, N.P. Lasca.

Title: Fracturing of an ice sheet by ship-induced, ice-coupled waves / C. Yuen, N.P. Lasca.
Author(s): Yuen, C.
Lasca, N. P.
Date: 1989.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1989.), Vol. 16(1) (1989)
Abstract: Evaluates role of ice-coupled waves caused by ship traffic on ice fracturing in water body. Calculates flexural stress in ice based on ice-coupled wave theory. Correlation is then made between flexural stress and flexural strength of ice which was measured in laboratory. Results are valuable in understanding impact of winter navigation on ice-covered channel.
