Record #96641:

Water flow through a glacier situated in an overdeepening: cause or consequence of a till layer at the bed (abstract) / Roger LeB. Hooke.

Title: Water flow through a glacier situated in an overdeepening: cause or consequence of a till layer at the bed (abstract) / Roger LeB. Hooke.
Author(s): Hooke, Roger LeB.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: Cambridge: International Glaciological Society
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1989.), Vol. 12 (1989)
Abstract: Presents results from examination of overdeepening in ablation area of Storglaciären, northern Sweden. Electrical resistivity meaurements in boreholes indicate that layer of till, about 0.5 m thick, lies between glacier and bed. Observations were made on drainage of holes drilled to bed in overdeepening; from these, water flow through overdeepening is inferred to be englacial. Discusses role of till layer in water drainage.
