Abstract: | Reactions of colony of 1300 nesting birds in Kongsfjorden to actual helicopter flights and to simulation with loudspeakers were studied for 5 weeks in summer 1987. 89 breeding pairs were watched. Responses varied from orientation to flight, and noise was varied between gradual and sudden, overflight and diagonal passage. Effects, if any, of low frequency sound were not analysed at time of report. |
