Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic
In: Impact of climatic variations on agriculture. Volume 1 : Assessment in cool temperate and cold regions. (1988.),
Abstract: Simulates five types of climate, based on long temperature record at Stykkishólmur. Changes in national hay yields, pasture yields, carcass weight of lambs and carrying capacity of range loads estimated for each climatic scenario relative to baseline. Importance of nitrogen fertilizer in determining yield response is investigated, and implications of this relationship both for stabilizing hay yields and for maintaining dairy production are examined. Recommends that research should focus on present marginal areas, in northern upland regions, and on more favourable areas.
