Record #95223:

Evidence of glacial seismic events in the acoustic environment of humpback whales / Paul R. Miles, Charles I. Malme.

Title: Evidence of glacial seismic events in the acoustic environment of humpback whales / Paul R. Miles, Charles I. Malme.
Author(s): Miles, Paul R.
Malme, Charles I.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska Fairbanks, Geophysical Institute
In: Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 2 : Symposium on Noise and Marine Mammals. (1988.),
Abstract: High level impulses of underwater sound occurring as frequently as 3 to 4 times per minute were detected in Glacier Bay, AK, during studies of acoustic environment of region. Suggests events are associated with active glaciers in region and are result of stick-slip action at ice-rock interface.
Notes:

In: Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 2 : Symposium on Noise and Marine Mammals / William M. Sackinger, Martin O. Jeffries, eds.

Proceedings of Symposium on Noise and Marine Mammals held during Ninth Conference (POAC-87) on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, held at University of Alaska, Fairbanks, AK, 17-21 August 1987.
