Record #95216:

Winter relocation techniques for Arctic structures / G.A.N. Thomas.

Title: Winter relocation techniques for Arctic structures / G.A.N. Thomas.
Author(s): Thomas, G. A. N.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska Fairbanks, Geophysical Institute
In: Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 1. (1988.),
Abstract: Discusses moving drilling structures from one site to another in ice conditions in Beaufort Sea, thus enabling drilling to be carried out at three, not two, sites per year. Cost-effective methods include use of icebreakers and use of vehicles deployed on ice, in which case ice roads have to be constructed. Discussion, p. 652-653.
Notes:

In: Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 1 / William M. Sackinger, Martin O. Jeffries, eds.

Proceedings of Ninth Conference (POAC-87) on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, held at University of Alaska, Fairbanks, AK, 17-21 August 1987.

Keywords: 622.24 -- Drilling and boring.
624.145 -- Floating ice, engineering aspects.
E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering.
(*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters.
(*628) -- Beaufort Sea.
