In: | OMAE 1988 Houston. Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering. Vol. 4. Arctic engineering and technology ... presented at ... Houston, Texas, February 7-12, 1988. (1988.), |
Abstract: | Conical form used to deflect ice driven by wind and current. As ice fails and displaces, structure and its anchors and foundations are subjected to multi-directional loads and to moments which depend on effective point of application of ice load. Reports results of series of model tests of downward breaking cones in ice. Range of parameters examined: cone angle, waterline diameter, surface friction coefficient, and ice thickness and strength were each isolated and varied for range of ice approach speeds. Results compared with available analytical predictions and model scale measurements. |
