Abstract: With reference to impacts from multi-year ice floes and broken ice on ships' structures, crack propagation life of stiffened plate subjected to bending load, causing tensile stresses in welded region of stiffeners to main plate, is determined using computed stress intensity factors of plate and Paris-Erdogan equation.
