Abstract: Data from survey expedition in 1981 led to conclusion that upwelling conditions exist during polar summer in area of Denmark Strait. Upwelling is believed to be function of particular air-sea interaction that exists at this time of year. Result of this interaction has been developmemt of 40,000 km² area of high biological productivity.
