Record #94980:
Primary production of the cryptoendolithic microbiota from the Antarctic desert / J. Robie Vestal.
Title: | Primary production of the cryptoendolithic microbiota from the Antarctic desert / J. Robie Vestal. |
Author(s): | Vestal, J. Robie. |
Date: | 1988. |
In: | Polarforschung. (1988.), Vol. 58(2/3) (1988) |
Abstract: | Reviews studies conducted in Linnaeus Terrace, Ross Desert (McMurdo Dry Valleys). Making appropriate assumptions concerning metabolism during periods of warmth, light and moisture, primary production of the biota is calculated to be on the order of 0.108 to 4.41 mgC/m²/yr, with carbon turnover time from 576 to 23,520 years, yielding the lowest production values found on Earth. |
Notes: | Polarforschung. Vol. 58(2/3) :193-198 (1988). |
