Measuring the creep of ice in place / Donald H. Shields, Len Domaschuk, Bruce H. Kjartanson, Fethi Azizi.

Title: Measuring the creep of ice in place / Donald H. Shields, Len Domaschuk, Bruce H. Kjartanson, Fethi Azizi.
Author(s): Shields, Donald H.
Domaschuk, Len.
Kjartanson, Bruce H.
Azizi, Fethi.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Polartech '88. International Conference on Technology for Polar Areas, the Norwegian Institute of Technology, Trondheim, Norway, 15-17 June 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 2.
Abstract: Describes choice of pressuremeter equipment, calibration and test procedure. Gives practical advice on performing tests for up to seven days' duration in remote Arctic locations. Data from laboratory tests on polycrystalline ice at -2°C are used to illustrate typical results. Also used to predict settlement of spray ice (used for construction of artificial islands to support drill rigs) under its own weight.
