Ice accretion in the Barents Sea - instrumentation of the "Ross rig" / I. Borthwick, N. Riley, Per Strass, S. Løset.

Title: Ice accretion in the Barents Sea - instrumentation of the "Ross rig" / I. Borthwick, N. Riley, Per Strass, S. Løset.
Author(s): Borthwick, I.
Riley, N.
Strass, Per.
Løset, S.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Polartech '88. International Conference on Technology for Polar Areas, the Norwegian Institute of Technology, Trondheim, Norway, 15-17 June 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 2.
Abstract: Semi-submersible drilling rig was instrumented over winter 1987-88 in order to measure automatically icing criteria parameters of air temperature, wind speed and spray flux at various locations aboard rig and, during icing events, thickness of accumulated ice. Discusses preliminary results, including potential of system to provide warnings of icing events.
