An evaluation of an operational ice forecasting model during summer / Walter B. Tucker, III, William D. Hibler, III.
Title: | An evaluation of an operational ice forecasting model during summer / Walter B. Tucker, III, William D. Hibler, III. |
Author(s): | Tucker, Walter B., Hibler, William D., |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska Fairbanks, Geophysical Institute |
In: | Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 1. (1988.), |
Abstract: | Evaluates Polar Ice Prediction System (PIPS), which is run on grid covering entire Arctic basin and large parts of Greenland and Norwegian seas. Model was originally developed by Hibler in 1985, and later modified. Produces forecasts of ice drift, thickness, concentration, and divergence every 24 h for up to 6 d. Assessment took place 15 June to 15 October 1986. Results discussed. |
Notes: | In: Port and ocean engineering under Arctic conditions. Vol. 1 / William M. Sackinger, Martin O. Jeffries, eds. Proceedings of Ninth Conference (POAC-87) on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, held at University of Alaska, Fairbanks, AK, 17-21 August 1987. |
