| Abstract: | Three agricultural zones in Komi ASSR distinguished and discussed: southern, central and northern (including Nenetskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug). Governmnet resolution includes provisions for introducing improved cultivation techniques, improved machinery, and for extensive land-reclamation projects. Cropland should increasingly be used for cultivation of high-yield fodder grains and produce (potatoes and vegetables). Only limited variety of vegetables can be grown; average distance over which other vegetables are imported is 3000 km. Recommends increased specialization and development of hothouse farms, with recourse to imports where necessary. Discusses animal husbandry (with particular reference to cattle, reindeer, pigs, poultry, sheep, caged-fur farming), dairy farming, provision of accommodation, and expected increase in human population.
