Abstract: | Describes process of melting of large stretches of snow which produces largely unsupported crust over powder snow with larger granules than original drift; melt water around rocks on glacial moraines of Ferrar Glacier, and surface hydrology; and effect of sun's heat on snow among larger morainic debris. Observations made during Shackleton's 1907-09 Nimrod Antarctic expedition. |
