Record #94590:

Physical model study of Arctic pipeline settlement / T.S. Vinson, Andrew C. Palmer.

Title: Physical model study of Arctic pipeline settlement / T.S. Vinson, Andrew C. Palmer.
Author(s): Vinson, T. S.
Palmer, Andrew C.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 2.
Abstract: Study of Arctic submarine pipe-line settlement to investigate effect of arching and lateral load transfer and of soil/pipe interaction. With time, warm oil in pipes may thaw permafrost and cause settlement. Typical field conditions were represented by pipeline diameter of 75 cm, with wall of 1.6 cm, at burial depth of 3 m, underlain by ice-rich permafrost to depth of 8.5 cm.
Notes:

In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. Vol. 2. / Kaare Senneset, ed.

Keywords: 624.139.24 -- Settling and caving due to thawing.
621.644 -- Pipelines.
E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering.
(*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters.
