Abstract: Runways were constructed in 1942 and have experienced ongoing vertical deformation since then. Subsurface investigation and geotechnical evaluation identified soil profiles, ground thermal regime and other parameters necessary for conceptual design and construction considerations. Causes of deformation are discussed.
