Title: | An Antarctic ice sheet in the northern hemisphere: toward a new global glacial theory / M.G. Grosval'd. |
Author(s): | Grosval'd, M. G. |
Date: | 1988. |
Language: | Russian transliteration entered into original records using BGN/PCGN 1947 romanisation of Russian; Cyrillic text in MARC 880 field(s) reverse transliterated from this by automated process; BGN/PCGN 1947 text then upgraded to Library of Congress romanisation. |
In: | Polar Geography and Geology. (1988.), Vol. 12(4) (1988) |
Abstract: | Recent studies suggest that two huge ice sheets composed of terrestrial and marine ice sheets interconnected by floating ice shelves formed in northern hemisphere during Late Pleistocene. Eurasian Arctic was dominated by two largely marine ice sheets, which impounded many rivers, resulting in formation of proglacial lakes. Role played by these glaciations was global in impact. |

Keywords: | 551.336 -- Ice ages. 551.791 -- Pleistocene. 551.338 -- Ice ages, theories of causation. E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages. (*3) -- Arctic regions. |
