| Abstract: | This ground freezing operation permitted giant strip mining dragline 24 m wide to be moved in one day across alluvial flood plain of Green River, KY, USA. Describes environmental constraints that made procedure necessary and pipelaying and ground insulation methods employed. Thermal progress of project is reviewed and appropriate design methods discussed. |
