Effective life in creep of frozen soils / V.R. Parameswaran.
Title: | Effective life in creep of frozen soils / V.R. Parameswaran. |
Author(s): | Parameswaran, V. R. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Trondheim: Tapir Publishers |
In: | Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 2. |
Abstract: | Bearing capacities of foundations in permafrost are governed by creep of soil. Proposes new method for predicting onset of failure in creep, permitting longer effective life during performance of structure before ultimate failure than that predicted from time to reach minimum creep rate or time of transition from steady state to accelerating creep. Using computer to monitor performance of foundation, warning signal can be activated prior to onset of failure. |
