Title: | Core drilling through rock glacier-permafrost / Wilfried Haeberli, J. Huder, H.-R. Keusen, J. Pike, Hans Röthlisberger. |
Author(s): | Haeberli, Wilfried. Huder, J. Keusen, H. -R. Pike, J. Röthlisberger, Hans. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Trondheim: Tapir Publishers |
In: | Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 2. |
Abstract: | Core drilled in spring 1987 in active rock glacier in Swiss Alps. Temperature at 15 m depth was -2°C. Permafrost extended down to severely fissured and highly permeable bedrock at 50 m depth. Beneath 3 m active layer, core contained pure and massive ice (down to 12 m), supersaturated frozen sands with ice lenses (to 17 m), and ice-bearing blocks (to 18 m) |
Notes: | In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. Vol. 2. / Kaare Senneset, ed. |
Keywords: | 551.343.4 -- Rock glaciers. 551.345.3 -- Permafrost, composition and structure. Ice wedges. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (494) -- Switzerland. |
