Record #94325:

Ice jamming characteristics of the Mackenzie delta, N.W.T. / Steven C. Bigras.

Title: Ice jamming characteristics of the Mackenzie delta, N.W.T. / Steven C. Bigras.
Author(s): Bigras, Steven C.
Date: 1988.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 45th Annual Meeting (1988)
Abstract: Break-up monitored from 1981 to 1987 to identify and quantify processes involved in break-up and jamming and to assess their importance to hydrological regime of delta. Thermal and mechanical types of break-up observed. Describes break-up pattern, prevailing climatic conditions, and characteristic ice jams associated with each type of break-up. Documents location and behaviour of frequent ice jams in delta, including backwater buildup and flow diversions.
