Abstract: Based on examination of male coastal and inland population of Chukotka (aged 30-59): 297 natives and 248 newcomers. Newcomers consume large quantity of fat with high content of saturated fatty acids, associated with high level of plasma cholesterol by increasing content of LDL cholesterol. Diet of native residents of coastal villages is characterized by high calorific value, large protein content and fat with large content of polyunsaturated acids. Level of cholesterol and LDL cholesterol is low, but level of HDL cholesterol is high. Inland Chukchi are at intermediate stage.
