Abstract: | Recent theoretical and experimental studies of stress states and movements of ice and water in soil pores help to explain microstructural characteristics of soils that have been frozen. Such studies explain unique creep and deformation characteristics of freezing soils, and origin of certain solifluction phenomena. |
