Record #94157:

A method for measuring the rate of water transport due to temperature gradients in unsaturated frozen soils / Yoshisuke Nakano, A.R. Tice.

Title: A method for measuring the rate of water transport due to temperature gradients in unsaturated frozen soils / Yoshisuke Nakano, A.R. Tice.
Author(s): Nakano, Yoshisuke.
Tice, A. R.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: When linear temperature distribution is imposed on closed soil column with initial uniform water content, redistribution of water occurs in column. As time increases, profile of water is stabilized to approach stationary condition, which is used to calculate rate of water movement due to temperature gradients. Theoretical justification of method is presented and feasibility is demonstrated by experiments with marine-deposited clay.
