Record #94109:
Salt redistribution during laboratory freezing of saline sand columns / G.E. Baker, Thomas E. Osterkamp.
Title: | Salt redistribution during laboratory freezing of saline sand columns / G.E. Baker, Thomas E. Osterkamp. |
Author(s): | Baker, G. E. Osterkamp, Thomas E. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Ground freezing 88. Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Ground Freezing, Nottingham, 28-28 July 1988. (1988.), Vol. 1. |
Abstract: | Significant salt redistribution occurred during downward freezing, while none occurred during upward freezing. Redistribution increased with decreasing freezing rates. In partially frozen regions, salt movement was primarily by gravity drainage. In thawed region, convective process was responsible. |
Notes: | In: Ground freezing 88. Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Ground Freezing, Nottingham, 28-28 July 1988. Vol. 1. / R.H. Jones, J.T. Holden, eds. |
Keywords: | 551.345 -- Permafrost. Cryopedology. 536.421.4 -- Freezing. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. |
