Abstract: Problems of delivery to Yup'ik Eskimos include: culturally distinctive views of mental illness, social stress resulting from rapid transition from subsistence economy, lack of local residential treatment facilities, complex coordination required between mental health program and local and state agencies, and logistical difficulties resulting from environment and remoteness.
