Abstract: Collection of papers, several of them first presented at the symposium entitled "Contributions of Polar Research to the Earth Sciences" convened during a meeting of the Geological Society of America meeting at Kent State University, Ohio, in 1986. Presents Seymour Island as important locality for study of Upper Cretaeous and Paleogene strata due to relative accessability of the rock strata and richness of the fossil record.
