Record #93917:

Frost heaving and frost creep on an experimental slope: results for soil structures and sorted stripes / Jean-Pierre Coutard, Brigitte Van Vliet-Lanoe, Anne-Véronique Auzet.

Title: Frost heaving and frost creep on an experimental slope: results for soil structures and sorted stripes / Jean-Pierre Coutard, Brigitte Van Vliet-Lanoe, Anne-Véronique Auzet.
Author(s): Coutard, Jean-Pierre.
Vliet-Lanoe, Brigitte Van.
Auzet, Anne-Véronique.
Date: 1988.
Abstract: Three materials were used: loam, sandy loam, and heterogeneous material containing gravel. Slope was 12°, and subsurface water could be simulated. Maximum frost creep occurred in loamy material at lower end of slope where water supply was most intense and heaving was greater. At all points, most movement occurred just when thawing front passed them. Frost creep was shown to transform sorted polygons into sorted stripes along slope.
Notes:
