Record #93910:

The correlation of mid-frequency pack ice noise with environmental parameters / Ruth Eta Keenan.

Title: The correlation of mid-frequency pack ice noise with environmental parameters / Ruth Eta Keenan.
Author(s): Keenan, Ruth Eta.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers
In: Sea surface sound; natural mechanisms of surface generated noise in the ocean. (1988.),
Abstract: Examines mechanisms generating Fram IV mid-frequency Arctic ambient noise. Frequency levels of 100, 200, and 300 Hz are correlated with temperature, temperature rate of change, heat flux, wind speed, ice-stress moment, and 10 to 20 Hz ambient noise levels. Time series and spectral character of several individual noise events are presented. Events are local, within 15 km of receiving array, and peak in mid-frequencies. No correlation was found with measures of thermal stress, weak correlation with wind speed and ice-stress moment, and 0.67 correlation with 10 to 20 Hz levels.
