Measurements of active layer and permafrost parameters with electrical resistivity, self potential and induced polarization / Emile Gahé, M. Allard, M.K. Seguin, R. Fortier.

Title: Measurements of active layer and permafrost parameters with electrical resistivity, self potential and induced polarization / Emile Gahé, M. Allard, M.K. Seguin, R. Fortier.
Author(s): Gahé, Emile.
Allard, M.
Seguin, M. K.
Fortier, R.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Study area in Quebec north of latitude 58°. These three methods are compared in order to follow evolution of active layer and upper portion of permafrost. Tests also carried out in summer 1986 to verify effect of saline water at base of ice-rich permafrost under shoreline permafrost mound. Use of these methods in summer permits delineation of four layers in soil profiles: dry layer at surface, then water-saturated layer, ion-exchange zone, and permafrost.
Notes:
