Abstract: | Carried out near Syowa station as part of programme to develop airborne sensor for measuring vertical sea structures. Radar transmits 32 frequencies between 300 and 796 MHz, and measures amplitude and phase of reflected waves at each frequency. Discrete Fourier transform of 32 complex values of signals indicates distance of vertical sea-ice structures. Range resolution is about 15 cm in sea ice. |
