Record #93748:

Wet-sediment deformation of Quaternary and recent sediments in the Skardu basin, Karakoram mountains, Pakistan / Lewis A. Owen.

Title: Wet-sediment deformation of Quaternary and recent sediments in the Skardu basin, Karakoram mountains, Pakistan / Lewis A. Owen.
Author(s): Owen, Lewis A.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Glaciotectonics; forms and processes. Proceedings of various meetings of the Glaciotectonics Work Group : Field Meeting, Møn, Denmark (1986)/INQUA Congress, Ottawa, Canada (1987)/Field Meeting, Norfolk, UK (1988). (1988.),
Abstract: Terraces in this basin comprise floodplain, fluvial, glaciofluvial, and till sediments, as well as palaeosols. These sediments have been frost-heaved, thrust, and folded. At some locations, up to five duplexes of stacked sediments with sheath-fold geometries occur; these result from glaciotectonic deformation by glacier ice from tributary valley glaciers, which enter basin and override terraces. Sedimentological, palaeogeographical, and glaciotectonic model is developed for formation of these deformed terraces.
