| Abstract: | Recovery of accumulation of stray logs now represents viable commercial proposition. Examines vegetation of riparian and littoral areas involved, stressing sensitivity, and susceptibility to severe thermokarst degradation. Use of large-capacity helicopters to transport logs in slings to ships waiting offshore represents ecologically most acceptable way of extracting this timber.
