Record #93595:
Synoptic ice melt from Nimbus-7 SMMR / Robert G. Crane, Mark R. Anderson.
Title: | Synoptic ice melt from Nimbus-7 SMMR / Robert G. Crane, Mark R. Anderson. |
Author(s): | Crane, Robert G. Anderson, Mark R. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Boston, MA: American Meteorological Society |
In: | Second Conference on Polar Meteorology and Oceanography, March 29-31, 1988, Madison, Wisc. : preprints. (1988.), |
Abstract: | Describes method for categorizing ice-melt events on regional basis using data from Nimbus-7 scanning multichannel microwave radiometer, and employing extended principal components analysis in which components cannot only be interpreted in terms of characteristic or primary patterns of spatial variability in set, but are also extended to pick out dominant modes of space-time sequences of events. This approach has particular benefit when attempting to characterize transient features such as changing ice surface during progression of ice melt. |
