Record #93563:

Permafrost aggradation and degradation on Arctic coasts of North America / James A. Hunter.

Title: Permafrost aggradation and degradation on Arctic coasts of North America / James A. Hunter.
Author(s): Hunter, James A.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Trondheim: Tapir Publishers
In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 3.
Abstract: Related to Pleistocene history of area and relative changes in sea level. In general, western Arctic is experiencing rising sea levels with submergence, coastal recession and permafrost degradation, while eastern Arctic and Arctic archipelago are experiencing isostatic uplift and permafrost aggradation at emergent shorelines. Effect of these changes on ground temperatures, and on occurrence of ice-bonding. depends on such factors as sea-water temperatures and salinities as well as local thermal effects.
Notes:

In: Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. Vol. 3. / Kaare Senneset, ed.
