Permafrost temperature and the changing climate / Arthur H. Lachenbruch, T.T. Cladouhos, R.W. Salton.
Title: | Permafrost temperature and the changing climate / Arthur H. Lachenbruch, T.T. Cladouhos, R.W. Salton. |
Author(s): | Lachenbruch, Arthur H. Cladouhos, T. T. Salton, R. W. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Trondheim: Tapir Publishers |
In: | Permafrost. Fifth International Conference. August 2-5, 1988. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 3. |
Abstract: | Temperature profiles in continuous permafrost to depths of few hundred metres contain record of change in surface temperature during past few centuries. When interpreted with heat conduction theory, this source can provide information on patterns of contemporary climate change. Measurements in oil wells in north Alaska indicate variable but widespread warming (2 to 4°C) at surface during 20th century. |
